Get Involved!

Ready for a hands-on experience? Our training courses allow you to get your hands dirty, expand your knowledge base and put new skills to use. This is where the shovel meets the soil.

This is a free opportunity for learning. Typically runs May 11-Oct. 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m Tuesday night. Each session covers an important gardening topic, then offers hands-on experience in the dirt!

At Gunnison Gardens, we believe that food security and resilience is a community effort. That's why we love to collaborate with others who value local food production as much as we do. We think shared ideas and shared labor help to secure a better future for anyone.

In this 8-week course, you’ll learn to grow your own vegetables and overcome the challenges of our cold climate and short growing season. Master Gardener and local farmer Sue Wyman provides techniques, tips, and tricks to grow great vegetables in the Gunnison Valley. Learn about varieties, seed starting, transplanting, direct sowing, frost protection, deer & rodent control, pest management, amendments, compost teas, worm composting, and more. Hands-on in the field participation is a part of this learning experience!

Held at Western Colorado University each Spring.
